On February 11th 2008, Card Player Media announced the launch of Spadeclub, a brand new poker community for poker enthusiasts of all skills levels, from rank rookies to wily card-sharks. Spadeclub is the first to promise such in-depth features as personal player profiles, exclusive tools, tips and tutorials, numerous freerolls, bonuses and rewards, and over $100,000 to be won every month in cash prizes. Players wishing to sign up for Spadeclub can pay a subscription fee of $19.99 a month for Exclusive Membership, which allows the player easy access into all available tournaments as well as certain exclusive perks, such as added community features, bonuses, poker tips, and such. Alternatively, players can also sign up for a basic membership that offers a more limited freeroll tournament selection and fewer site features.
Spadeclub members play in multi-table and sit-n-go poker tournaments to win points, which can be used to play in special daily competitions. Winners of these daily tournaments can either win cash prizes, player points or tokens. Tokens can be used to secure a place in the weekly $5,000 tournaments and $40,000 monthly main event.
Card Player Media CEO Barry Shulman is well-known in the poker community as the founder of Card Player Magazine, the industry’s leading poker publication. A formidable poker player in his own right, Barry has made several WPT and WSOP final TV tables, and has also written several books on poker strategy. When asked for comment on the launch of Spadeclub, he said: “We at Card Player Media hope that our SpadeClub members enjoy the site, and all of the features that are exclusive to SpadeClub. With the launch of SpadeClub, we are providing a safe and fun environment for people to learn the game and hone their skills.”
