Texas Hold’em is the attraction at the World Poker Tournament which hosts the poker tournaments worldwide. The no limit betting form of Texas Hold’em is the most important event at the World Series of poker.
Texas Hold ‘em can be played by upto 23 players in theory but usually it is played between 2 to 10 players. The position plays an important role in Hold’em as the betting order is fixed for all the betting rounds. Texas Holdem is very popular all throughout the world amongst gamblers. Seven Card Stud, Omaha hold’em etc are also played widely.
The Texas Holdem got its name from Texas where it is believed it was played for the first time. A few gamblers from Texas then brought the game to Las Vegas.
The main objective of Texas Hold’em is to bag the pot. The pot is simply the money betted by you and the other players. The pot can be won by having the best poker hand at the showdown out of the seven cards available or by betting and making the other players fold and give up on the pot.
Texas Holdem has also become one of the most popular spectator sports. Big sports channels like ESPN etc have all started showing poker events like World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour etc. in which Texas Hold’em is the main event.
